World No. 6 Paula Badosa has been rising in ranks ever since the last season and is now in the process of cementing her place in the Top-10 having already reached a career-high ranking of World No. 4. Badosa has been fairly consistent on the WTA Tour having claimed a title already this season and making deep runs.

Currently playing at the 2022 Miami Open looking for his second WTA-1000 title, Badosa has started the tournament well. Having received a bye in the first round, the Spaniard started her campaign with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Marie Bouzkova in the second round to pick up her 14th win of the season in her 19th match.

Post her qualification into the third round, Badosa attended NBA side Miami Heat‘s home game against the New York Knicks at the FTX Arena. While the Heats were unfortunate to lose to the Knicks with the visitors winning the match 111-103, Badosa certainly seemed to enjoy the high-quality match featuring some of the finest players of the League. Badosa also wore the jersey of the Heats as well sporting Javonte Smart‘s 15 number on her back with Badosa written on it.

With Ash Barty shocking the world with her sudden retirement, the WTA will see a massive change to its ranking. With the defeat of Maria Sakkari in the second round and Iga Swiatek winning her clash to reach the third round, the Pole will be the new World No. 1 when the rankings are updated after the Miami Open concludes.

Similarly, Paula is set to break into the Top-3 and will achieve her career-high rank in the process. Badosa will be behind Barbora Krejcikova and with the Czech not playing in Miami this week, Badosa with a good run in the tournament can leap her and reach the World No. 2 spot as well before the Clay season begins where Barbora is quite dominant. Paula will now take on Yulia Putintseva in the third round.
