The WTA Melbourne Summer Set 1 2022 will be the inaugural edition of the tournament that is set to begin in Melbourne from the 4th of January. The tournament has been organised as the replacement of the Brisbane International that was cancelled this year due to the increase in cases of Covid-19.

This year’s tournament will have 4-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka as the top-seed, former World No. 1 Simona Halep as the 2nd seed and Veronika Kudermetova as the 3rd seed. The tournament begins concurrently with the Melbourne Summer Set 2 2022, with both the events part of the WTA-250 category.
