Clara Tauson is a Danish professional tennis player and has won two WTA titles in her career and has a career-high ranking of No.39 on 17 January, 2022.
Tauson started playing tennis when she was six years old and started playing junior tournaments aged 10. She became the youngest player to win the Danish Tennis Championship aged just 13 and, in this process, broke Caroline Wozniacki’s record, who win it at the age of 14.
The Dane had a promising junior career, she won the Australian Open Girl’s singles title and the European Youth Olympic Festival. She also the held the No.1 ranking in juniors and was the first female from Denmark to achieve it.
She won her first senior tournament at the ITF Women’s Circuit tournament in Stockholm. She She made her debut at a senior Grand Slam at the French Open in 2019 after winning all her qualifying matches to reach the main draw. In the first round match, she upset 21st seed Jennifer Brady in a thrilling three set match, 6-4, 3-6, 9-7. However, she lost to Danielle Collins in the second round.
In 2021, Tauson won her first WTA title a the Lyon Open and debuted in the top-100 of the WTA rankings. She was the second youngest player in the top-100, behind Coco Gauff. She won the Chicago Challenger, defeating Emma Raducanu in the final before bagging her second WTA title at the Luxemburg Open. She finished as runner-up at the Courmayeur Open, which was her last tournament of the year.
Tauson started her 2022 season by reaching quarter-finals of the WTA Melbourne (Summer Set 2), but was forced to retire with an injury. She then won her opening round match against home favourite Astra Sharma in straight sets. The Danish teen notched up one of her biggest wins of her career when she won against 6th seed Anett Kontaveit in the second round and book a place in the third round. This was the first time Tauson manged to get past the second round of a Grand Slam.

She is focused on her career at the moment and has transitioned well into seniors from her exceptional junior’s career. She is destined to be the next big thing in tennis, should she continue the progress she has shown up to now.
