The Indian upset 31st seed Alexander Bublik by consistently breaking against him. This led to the Kazakh losing his cool, thus smashing his racket in frustration. However, the former World No. 122 player kept his cool to ace his way into the second round of the Melbourne Slam.

For the uninitiated, Sumit Nagal is currently ranked 137th in the world. He sits patiently as he awaits his time to face Chinese wildcard Shang Juncheng. For this match, he will decide his opponent, going into the second round of the Australian Open.

The match between the American, Mackenzie McDonald, and the Chinese was truly a thriller. They engaged in a five-set match, with the stakes high for each party.

However, it was ultimately the Chinese star who won the encounter with a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 2-6 in his favor. While the American truly put up a great show in the second and third sets, it was ultimately Shang who would move on to the second round. There, he will face India’s Sumit Nagal.
