Serena Williams featured in the first ever night match at Chatrier on Monday and came out on the winning side. The American was in amazing form against Irina Begu, whom se defeated in straights sets 7-6(6),6-2.
The American veteran racked up winners, especially in the second set against Begu, a formidable Clay court player and will be up against Mihaela Buzarnescu, another tricky opponent from Romania.
As for Buzarnescu, a claycourter, she registered an excellent win over Arantxa Rus of Netherlands in straight sets 7-5,7-5. The Romanian has been in decent form all season and will look to give Williams a tough time.
