Katerina Siniakova vs Cori Gauff : Preview
Katerina Siniakova makes it to her first semi-final of the season as she battles past 8th seeded Caroline Garcia in straight-sets 7-5, 6-1. The 25-year old Czech player reaches her first WTA semi-final after almost 21 months.
Katerina is yet to drop a set throughout the tournament and has won all of her matches in straight-sets so far which includes one of her biggest career win, defeating former World No. 1 Serena Williams in the 2nd round.
Cori Gauff continues her amazing run on Clay this season as she makes her second clay semi-final in 2 weeks after she was knocked out in the semis of the recently concluded WTA Italian Open 2021. This is the 3rd semi-final of the year for the 17-year old who defeated fellow American Amanda Anisimova in the quarter-finals 6-3, 6-3.
Similar to Katerina, Coco is yet to drop a set in Parma this week winning all her games in straight-sets in what has been amazing fortnight for the American.
Katerina Siniakova vs Cori Gauff : Head to Head
This will be the second meeting between the two as they have previously met once at the singles level at the 2020 Ostrava Open where Gauff came out victorious, also leads the head-to-head tie 1-0.
Katerina Siniakova vs Cori Gauff : Prediction
Katerina had not looked great on Hard courts this year, but with the Clay season starting she looks in better touch and control of her game. She is 5-2 for the season with 3 of her victories coming this week. Coco however has looked much better on both the surfaces and is currently 10-3 on Clay for the season.
While the numbers speak for themselves, Coco stands a better chance to win the contest, however, Katerina has played some amazing tennis over the week and with the confidence of defeating a former World No. 1 and yet to drop a set, it does not look like an easy sail for the American.
Prediction: Cori Gauff to win in 3-sets.
