After receiving a bye in the opening round, Iga Swiatek overcame a second-set stumble to prevail over Viktorija Golubic 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. After winning the first set in comfortable fashion, the 7th seed struggled with her serve in the second set and Golubic capitalized on this opportunity to win the set and force a decider. The Pole eventually found her rhythm and dominated her opponent to wrap up the set and book her place in the third round of Doha for the first time in her career.
Daria Kasatkina was trailing 2-6, 2-2 in her second-round match against Jaqueline Adina Cristian, but the Romanian twisted her knee and had to retire mid-way from the match due to the injury, and with this Kasatkina moved on to the third round. The Russian is yet to find her form in Doha, she also had to fight hard to win her opening round clash against Ajla Tomljanovic 6-4, 6-7, 6-2, and will be keen to have a better performance in the next round.

Kasatkina’s last two defeats have come in the hands of Swiatek and she will be looking to snap her losing streak against the Pole, but Swiatek will be the favorite to win this match given her form and dominance so far against the Russian.
