Yulia Putintseva vs Magda Linette : Preview
Yulia Putintseva will play in the second Clay quarter-final of the season when she takes the court on Thursday. The 26-year old previously played at the Charleston Open 2021 in her first Clay tournament of the season but could not go past the last-8.
She faced a string of early exits before coming to France where she won the first round in 3-sets and was leading 2-0 in the first set when her opponent had to pull out due to an injury giving Yulia qualification into the second round.
Magda Linette moves into her first quarter-final of the season as she missed nearly 4 months of action this year due her injuries. Her comeback had not been great so far but things are looking to turning up in France as she moves past the first 2 matches to get into this quarter-final.
After 4 consecutive first round defeats on Clay, she finally earned her first win in Strasbourg, winning in straight-sets. Similar to Yulia her opponent had to force retire mid-game giving Linette another win in the second round where she was leading 7-6, 3-0.
