Alexander Zverev has been one of the best player on tour this season. He has reached 3 grand slam semifinals this season and has already won 2 masters title- Madrid and Cincinnati. He lost the semifinal of the US Open to Novak Djokovic in 5 sets and then remained unbeaten at the Laver Cup.

At the Californian desert this week, Zverev got the better of American youngster Jenson Brooksby in the second round before beating 3-time grand slam champion Andy Murray in straight sets 6-4,7-6(4) in the third round.

As for Gael Monfils, he had a terrible season prior to Wimbledon. But the Frenchman used all his experience to bounce back at the North American swing and reached the quarterfinals of the Toronto Masters and reached the Round of 16 of the Cincinnati Masters. He then bowed out of the third round of the US Open before making it to the semifinal of the Moselle Open. The Frenchman then made it to the final of the Sofia Open where he lost to Jannik Sinner.

This week at Indian Wells, Monfils is yet to drop a set and defeated Italian Gianluca Mager in the second round. He then got the better of South African Kevin Anderson in the third round in straight sets 7-5,6-2.
