Turki Alalshikh’s Fatal Fury event on May 2nd at Times Square is gaining traction. Two out of three of the spectacles have Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney headlining in different bouts. Lopez, the last bout to come about, recently went off on Devin Haney. However, fate pulled its own trick, pitting the two together!

Teofimo Lopez recently posted footage from his flight where he and “Dream” are in the same row on the flight. It must have been awkward, given he recently went off on Haney, Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, Ryan Garcia, and Arnold Barboza Jr. Despite prime rivalries, Lopez billed the ‘dead air’ around the Fatal Fury kickoff presser needed change, and he ripped into everyone present for it.

After some lackluster decisions against Steve ClaggettJamaine OrtizSandor Martin, and Pedro Campa, Lopez meets interim WBO belt-holder Arnold Barboza Jr. on the City Of Wolves Card. Hence, he is leaping high with energy ahead of the first Ring Magazine event on US soil. It was supposed to be a Martin Bakole vs. Efe Ajagba scrapper, but the latter (Bakole) filled in on another fight.

Now that he has the opportunity at this spectacular event, WBO light welterweight champion Lopez means to promote it to the greatest extent. The duo was also in line to face each other, but that never happened. However, the unapologetic Teofimo Lopez forgot that stuff bleeds through outside of fighting as well. Lucky for him, Haney was grooving to his own vibe on the flight.

Devin Haney has the worst spot in the pressure list

Out of three A-side pugilists, Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is the most vulnerable right now. After an NYSAC ban and $10,000 levy, Garcia returns to the fold in about 13 months. So, he’ll naturally be happy to be there.

Like the other 140-pound stars, Teofimo Lopez has a lot riding on this, and he means to be not ‘humble’ about it. But as far as the stress test goes, Devin Haney should be feeling it. He also did push for a Saudi GEA deal to turn to before this Fatal Fury DAZN event came to be.

He did lose an upset to “KingRy” last April. While the result is now an NC due to a failed drug pool, a loss is a loss for the combat clique and his fans. Haney even said his marketability was lost due to the steroid-pump beatdown. “The Dream” wobbled three times against Garcia and wasn’t the strongest of talking points. As such, if he can’t bounce back, said marketability goes further down.

Consequently, he meets former WBC and WBO 140-lb champion Jose Ramirez in his return bout. Some fans bill Ramirez is ripe and over-the-bound, but his 18 KO stats would say otherwise. Similar to Garcia and others, he is a pressure fighter.

The fans know that this kind of pressure is Haney’s kryptonite. Other than some cheaper clips out of a close-clinch situation, Ramirez has shown a hard chin. So, on a low power, Haney would have his work cut out for him.
