“Yet to make $1 million…” Teofimo Lopez makes stunning revelation about his boxing paychecks
Teofimo Lopez throws hat in ring to fight Gervonta Davis from anywhere between 140-154Lb limits; will take lower purse as he always has.

Teofimo Lopez made a rather bloated appearance at the Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga weigh-ins a while back at T-Mobile Arena, LV. Using the frame to create a callout to one Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, too. He also called out some other notables he has a very slim chance of fighting, yet. Ever since a matchup between the two has been a go-to topic.
Gervonta Davis won’t entertain Teofimo because they’re too far apart in weight and has more popular options. In his recent fights against Steve Claggett, Jamaine Ortiz, Sandor Martin, and Pedro Campa, Lopez scrapped on low gas. So he isn’t exactly brimming with a draw power either. But the WBO junior welterweight champ Teofimo is nothing if not corny and unapologetically confident. He even had some interesting notions on fighting ‘Tank’ for a lower contracted purse.
By hook or by crook, he wants to be WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champ Gervonta’s next hurdle. During ‘THE TAKEOVER IS IN THE BUILDING!!’ (@comeandtalk2me) segment, Lopez also snubbed Shakur Stevenson from the equation due to his outbursts and the respect he has for his manager J. Prince. Eagle-eyed for only, and only Gervonta Davis, he is wishing for the ‘Tank-ey’ affair to take place on December 14th.

Teofimo Lopez: “Ya, I’ve been doing that my last fights. I have yet to even make more than 1 million dollars in every fight. When I fought Loma I came home with 460K after everything(expenses). With Josh Taylor…I came… pic.twitter.com/9V1MaKSMrZ
Teofimo is too big to move back up to lightweight. Yet he has opted for the prize route instead of options like William Zepeda or Andy Cruz. Training with Canelo Alvarez went viral as a new hope to hydrate to 154 limits. But even with Vasiliy Lomachenko calling a sabbatical for the rest of the year, he took that long for a callout. So his intentions and purposes are a little out of wack right now. However, he remains confident that he could beat anybody.
Teofimo Lopez talks about his toughest fights
WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) has volunteered to meet Gervonta Davis or big-name like Terence Crawford. It’s unclear why Teofimo waited this long; the detractors smell a payday desperation. Teofimo’s approach to Tank sounded like he was begging for a prize fight, and that’s not a good look for his career.
Specially, if career-wise, options are pending at 140, 147, or even chances at 154. At one point, he had made all of it look possible. For a while, Brian Norman Jr was a floater for the WBO 147-Lb title before moving to Claggett. If Davis fought Teofimo, he’d probably insist on a rehydration clause to prevent Lopez from ballooning to middleweight. It’d be a bad shape and built for the former WBO, WBA, and IBF lightweight champion.
Despite promoter Leonard Ellerbe and media publications saying otherwise, Lopez is stubborn this matchup could happen. He is also engaging with ‘Bud’ out of pocket, making calls. Not for nothing, but Teo enlists his outstanding mettle as to why he is making such callouts. He believes that he is indomitable at 140 right now.
The falloff from Teofimo’s has been weird, He is still pointing towards Davis, as well as towards Crawford, even if it means going from 140 to 154. He has made random mentions anywhere and everywhere, but it’s not the same drive as it was years ago. While not afraid of longer-armed range boxers, his ambitions are as muddy as ever. It’s anyone’s guess what he does next from here.
