One can hardly forget how Antonio Brown abruptly left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the middle of the 2021 NFL season, but it turns out the team could have had the Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens for the playoffs if only the GOAT hadn’t ignored him. Instead, they ended up having bad relations with him. 

In a recent appearance on The Volume’s “The Bubba Dub Show,” the former NFL star revealed that he was willing to join the Bucs after the infamous departure of Brown following the match against the New York Jets. Owens reached out to the seven-time Super Bowl champion with his offer to join them but was ghosted by him. 

Tom Brady ignored me. The year that AB went crazy… they just needed somebody to fill some holes with AB leaving at the receiver position. I reached out to him through Randy and some other people, just to come in and play third down and red zone situations. This dude ignored me.
Terrell Owens said

Owens took it as a disrespect when the legendary quarterback ignored him and he still holds a grudge against him. He feels that Brady didn’t show him respect at that time, but whenever the two cross paths, the former NFL quarterback “acts like” he respects him.

When the Hall of Famer receiver made the offer, he was 48 years old and hadn’t stepped foot on the football field for more than a decade after being released by the Seattle Seahawks. Therefore, there’s a possibility that Brady took Owens’ proposal as a joke.

Terrell Owens denies his ‘locker room cancer’ reputation

In his Hall of Fame career playing in the NFL and becoming one of the most prolific pass-catchers in history, Owens didn’t have quite a team-working or jolly personality in the locker room. To many extent, he had the reputation of being “locker room cancer” with his rifts with the quarterbacks.

However, when the five-time All-Pro was asked about his reputation, he simply denied claiming none of his teammates ever said that. He even pointed out how his former teammate Marcus Spears said, “Where did you hear that from?,” when asked about Owens’ locker room reputation. 

Regardless, Brady wasn’t willing to spend time with a veteran wide receiver, who lost touch with the NFL a decade ago during the playoff preparation when he scored a victory in the Super Bowl and became the winningest quarterback of all time.
