‘Unimpressed’ Terrell Owens calls out 49ers WR Deebo Samuel for not playing up to the standards

Deebo Samuel hasn’t produced enough in 2024 to impress Terrell Owens. Owens was one of the hardest workers during his time in the NFL, winning All-Pro titles and eventually being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. To him, the effort is everything that Samuel lacks at the moment.
The San Francisco 49ers were in the hunt for another Super Bowl run, but after ten games they are 5-5, and it may even get worse when they face the Green Bay Packers in week 12. Understandably, there’s frustration among the players, the fans, and even the former players to see their beloved team struggle.
49ers legendary wide receiver Terrell Owens wasn’t exactly the ideal teammate, but he always gave his best on the field. He wants to see a similar grit from Deebo Samuel. The former second-round pick had one All-Pro season and has been declining ever since.
Deebo is currently 28 and should be in his prime, but the numbers speak a different story. He missed a few games due to injury, starting nine games this season. Samuel caught 33 passes for 490 yards and only 1 touchdown, which is a far cry from his last few years’ output.

Deebo is not really playing up to Deebo’s standards. It seems like he’s more focused on his pregame attire than the game. If we can shift that focus, maybe that can energize and create some more production from an offensive standpoint. I’m just being tongue-in-cheek with that.

Deebo Samuel asserted 2024 as the worst season of his NFL career
Owens’ interview became viral after Samuel declared the 2024 season to be his worst since entering the NFL. He isn’t happy with his performance and the results.
This year, for sure. Losing games that we aren’t supposed to lose, we put our backs against the wall at times… We gotta finish games we gotta be the Niners that everybody knows that we are, and it gets frustrating.

However, he further sent a message to the naysayers who have remained critical of him.
The naysayers are going to say whatever they want. At the end of the day, I can only control the things that I can control. So I just try my best to do that and just keep it pushing.

The 49ers can still qualify for the playoffs if they win more games. Players are slowly coming from their injuries, like Christian McCaffrey, and are on the verge of recovering, like Dre Greenlaw. A full-strength 49ers team can push for post-season football and beyond.
