Terrell Owens joins Troy Aikman in bashing NFL referees for ‘blatantly’ favoring the Chiefs
HOF WR Terrell Owens boldly accused Roger Goodell and NFL refs of rigging games to send Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to the Super Bowl.

In the last few seasons, many have questioned the refereeing in the NFL. From players to coaches and analysts, even former players such as Troy Aikman have criticized the officials for favoring the Kansas City Chiefs. Aikman found support from 49ers legend Terrell Owens.
In a recent interview on It Is What It Is with Cam’Ron and Mase, the Hall of Fame wide receiver pointed out some questionable refereeing decisions favoring the Chiefs to reach Super Bowl LIX.
I’ve never thought I would say that games were rigged. It is unreal at the amount of calls that are not called against the Kansas City Chiefs that are called against everybody else.

The rapper duo asked Owens who he would support in the Super Bowl. Owens views the Philadelphia Eagles as the better overall team with better receivers and running backs. However, it’s the quarterback that makes all the difference. He doesn’t want to bet against Patrick Mahomes, especially because of the favorable calls he has been getting from the referee.
Quarterback is going to make the difference, but again, I wouldn’t bet against the Chiefs. And with the refs, honestly, with all of the calls… Mahomes is smart…causing the flag. He’s getting the benefit of the… he didn’t even get hit, 15-yard flag.

Before Owens, 3x Super Bowl winner Troy Aikman cited gambling as a cause for the choppy refereeing calls during games.
People are gambling more than they ever have before and those types of calls, there’s a lot at stake, regardless. But especially when you’re considering there’s a lot of money that’s changing hands with these calls as well, I think that we owe it to the fans that we get it right.

Roger Goodell dismissed the ‘NFL is rigged’ theory
The NFL had to react to all the backlash on social media and former players calling them out for cheating and rigged games. Former NFL VP of Officiating Dean Blandino recently revealed that even his household thinks the NFL is rigged for the Chiefs, especially his brother.
[Blandino’s brother] says the league is rigged and that I can’t say anything about it. I say, ‘Listen, hey, I think if there was a script, I think the head of officiating would be pretty important in that process and no one ever invited me in the room’.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was silent on the chatter until now. On Monday, in a press conference, Goodell dismissed the idea that the NFL referees are rigging games in the Chiefs’ favor.
It’s a ridiculous theory for anyone who might take it seriously. But at the end of the day, it’s something we might have to continue to work on.

Goodell did admit that the officiating can be better, and it will be. The ‘NFL is rigged’ theory doesn’t seem like it will die down anytime soon, especially with the Super Bowl around the corner.
