“Karthik meiyappan what a hattrick! “- Twitter reacts as Pathum Nissanka’s knock guides Sri Lanka to 152/8 against UAE in T20 WC

Sri Lanka vs UAE
In the 6th Group stage match between Sri Lanka and UAE, the former batted first and put on 152/8 on Tuesday, October 18 at the GMHBA stadium in Gleelong.
UAE won the toss and opted to bowl first. Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka was the high scorer for his team with his knock of 76 runs off 60 balls (six four and two sixes). Zahoor Khan dismissed him on the last ball of the final over.
Zahoor’s full balls (outside off) made Nissanka smack it to the left of mid-off. Basil Hameed moved to his left; with a dive he grabbed a spectacular catch to sent Nissanka back to the pavilion. Kusal Mendis could add only 18 runs from 13 balls (with two fours) before Aryan Lakra dismissed him with a wrist spin.
Dhananjaya de Silva acored a crucial 33 runs off 21 balls with three fours and a six. But in the 12th over, lack of communication between the batters made Muhammad Waseem ran de Silva out. Aayan Khan was the bowler who delivered a full ball outside off; Nissanka struck this to the cover where Waseem collected the ball and threw it towards the non-strikers end.
But the star of this innings wasn’t a Sri Lanka batter. It was Palaniapan Meiyappan who, in the 15th over, first dismissed Bhanuka Rajapaksa; in the next ball, he sent Charith Asalanka back, and completed his hat-trick by bowling out Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka on golden duck. Meanwhile, other Lankan batters couldn’t do much and Sri Lanka ended up scoring a decent 152/8 in their 20 overs.
