Heavyweight boxing icon Mike Tyson and the tales of his temper flares go hand in hand. Many who have crossed Tyson said something they ought not have experienced it first-hand. Over the years, Damon Wayans was one such person who reportedly had beef with ‘Iron’ over his mockery. Now, Wayans gave a little more of his side of the story.
There was rampant news that the boxer’s temper tantrum was on full display when he cornered Damon Wayans in a public LA restroom. The Comedian-actor had a brief sketch on NBC and had mocked Mike Tyson on a Saturday Night Live skit. Marlon Wayans once iterated how an interaction with their mother stopped Tyson from going full berserker; now, Damon Wayans does the same.
Here’s an interesting thing…Mike Tyson loves my family, and it’s not because of me. He was at some event with my mother. My mother introduced herself… He said, ‘Oh, your kids. I don’t like them. They, they… make mocker-ize me…My mother said, ‘Oh, shut up. If they didn’t love you, they wouldn’t do it.’ And Mike Tyson was like, ‘I fell in love with your family right there. If anything ever happens with you and your family, I’m going to eat through people.’

Tyson has been a pillar of the boxing community; his impact on pro boxing has seen comparisons edging near to Muhammad Ali even. Damon Wayans’ film The Great White Hype would tug on that “black greatness” vs. White boxer trope even.
Wayans’ character would play a boxer forced to face a ‘White hype’ opponent for monetary sale implications. Years later, it would consequently materialize with a 58-year Tyson vs. Jake Paul event that headlined MVP’s Netflix-themed fight.

Hence, it’s safe to consider the television family had their nooks close with tidbits into Tyson’s life. Wayans family would also do skits on how he speaks and behaves outside. Then came the gleeful yet somewhat terrific tale of Mike Tyson chomping down on his neck. However, the actor recently said everything was cool and Tyson was ready to kill for his family after meeting their mother.
Who is Mike Tyson fighting next?
If Tyson never fights pro again, it will mean the end of a 40-year career in which he became a two-time HW champion. He was the youngest boxing champion in history and held the moniker of undisputed. ‘Iron Mike’ retired with a record of 50-7-0 with 44 knockouts and five decisions.
Mike Tyson held the WBA and WBC titles in 1996, before losing them to Evander Holyfield. He would go on to challenge Lennox Lewis for the unified straps but lost by way of a KO.

While tending to his lopsided decision loss, other details came forward about Tyson’s health. Additionally, he was already sporting an ulcer going in and a 29-year age disparity. He said even the loss was a humbling ordeal and later teased that he might return in 2025.
There are no names currently in the running to face Tyson or to hint that he is returning any soon. But after the scrapper with a much younger Paul, the boxing world began to scrutinize it even more. Many names started joking they’d face an older boxer now, maybe even Iron. His return was Netflix’s most streamed sporting event and quite the head turner.
The Impractical Jokers‘ Joe Gatto also cued in on a similar joke, saying he’s fighting Mike Tyson. Since his days on that show, he announced a new fitness TV show, returning to home entertainment tele since 2022.
Gatto, 48, who starred in the 2011-2020 TruTV (and later TBS) show, joked that he managed to book the former undisputed heavyweight champion. He even tweeted a mock poster for it. Other than such marketing ploys joking about Tyson’s advanced age, there is no news as such.
