Being a religious and devout believer in God, CJ Stroud wants to stop, or at the very least limit, using curse words. He wants to accomplish that goal alongside leading the Houston Texans to NFL glory.
Besides setting several records in his rookie season with the Texans, fans noticed Stroud’s maturity on and off the pitch. His leadership qualities were fully displayed during this week‘s Hall of Fame game against the Chicago Bears.
However, there’s one aspect of his personality or habit that he wants to cast away quickly. While speaking with Sports Spectrum in an exclusive interview, the 22-year-old claimed he can’t follow God’s path and uses curse words in almost every sentence. In his view, ‘it’s hypocritical.’
I am struggling with curse words right now; I am trying to stop and trying to hold back cause not only am I trying to do it for myself but also like I can’t proclaim that I also love God and have a wild mouth—that doesn’t make sense to me; it’s hypocritical.CJ Stroud said
One of his acquaintances advised him to read the James III Bible verse.
I read James III last night and went over the devotion on the way to work this morning. So, it’s stuff like that, people saying me stuff and I ask questions, and I am like a youth in this walk and I wanna learn.CJ Stroud said

CJ Stroud received an underwhelming rating on Madden 25
Earlier this week, EA Sports Madden 25 released the ratings of the top quarterbacks in the video game. There were a few shocking scores, but none more than Stroud’s, who only had 81. Stroud finished 14th, sandwiched between Jared Goff with 83 and Jordan Love with 81.
The ratings definitely turned a lot of heads considering the 2023 second-overall pick’s achievements last season. Even though the votes came from NFL players, coaches, analysts, and scouts, a lot of fans believed Stroud was hard done by.

It’s possible they scored him so low because it was only his first season in the NFL. However, Stroud was often the Texans’ savior, even twice coming back from 10 points down to win.
That’s all in the past, and he now has ample offensive weapons that can help him go even further into the postseason in 2024. On top of hosting Tank Dell, Nico Collins, and Dalton Schultz, the Texans added all-pro wideout Stefon Diggs and Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon. They kick off their campaign against the Colts on September 8.
