Elina Svitolina has long been the flagbearer of tennis in Ukraine. The 27-year-old tennis star is currently on a break from tennis as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues to wage for more than 2 months now and with her family and friends stuck in war-torn Ukraine, the player finds herself unable to focus on her sport at the moment.

Elina had promised to donate all of her appearances fees in the tournaments she played after the war started and has raised a lot of funds to donate towards the humanitarian causes in her motherland. She recently attended a charity event that took place in Milan, organized by the former Italian player Francesca Schiavone.

The former Italian player and legend had organized an event that invited celebrities from the sports world. It was reported that the funds from this charity dinner will be transferred to the Elina Svitolina foundation and will be used as aid and funds due to the current circumstances in Ukraine.

The charity dinner was a fun event, which not only had tennis stars but also football stars like Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso, and Mauro Tassotti. But the absolute highlight of the dinner was the auction which had a souvenir of many of the stars like Gael Monfils‘ racket, Svitolina herself donated a shirt which she wore when she won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics.

Some of the other enviable goods that were auctioned were Jannik Sinner‘s jersey and Fabio Fognini‘s jersey and racket. The biggest donation came from fans of Francesca Schiavone who donated €2000 just to play doubles with the Italian star for an hour.

The Ukrainian Elina Svitolina was last seen in the Miami Open where she crashed out in the opening round itself. Fans are yet to see when the top-ranking Ukrainian player will next play.
