‘Do Bronx’ Charles Oliveira is making his comeback inside the Octagon at UFC 256’s co-main event to face ‘El Cucuy’ Tony Ferguson. Ferguson is the former interim champion and Oliveira is on a 7 fight win streak in the Lightweight division. Oliveira believes that if he defeats ‘El Cucuy’ he deserves the title shot.

Charles Oliveira tells Combate in his latest interview that he is waiting for the winner of Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. Oliveira says, “I took this fight already knowing what was going to happen. Who’s going to fight for the belt? Justin Gaethje? He ran away the whole time in his fight against Khabib.”

“He fought an ugly fight and got finished in the second round. The only reason why he didn’t get finished in the first is that time ran out. Dan Hooker is coming off a loss. Rafael dos Anjos comes off a win. He’s a former champion, all right. He lost when fought for the welterweight title.”

“Now he just got back and he’s fighting for a title? There’s no way. I’m on a seven-fight win streak and the three guys ahead of me are all former interim champions. The only one who was an undisputed champion is Conor McGregor. There’s no way out, no logic.”

Oliveira believes that Khabib will not come back from retirement

Khabib announced his retirement at UFC 254 due to the promise that he made with her mother that he will not come back in the ring without his father and Oliveira believes the same that Khabib will not unretire. Oliveira says, “Everything is in motion. That guy retired, there’s nothing you can do. He sworn on his father’s grave that he wouldn’t fight again.”

“He promised his mom. A man must keep his word. If he sworn on his father’s grave that he wouldn’t fight again, he sure won’t fight again. There’s nothing you can do. Who wins between Charles Oliveira and Tony Ferguson, and I’m sure that’ll be me, is the next title challenger. Then there’s Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor”

“Who wins that gets to fight me for the title in the middle of next year. There’s nothing else to be said.” ‘Do Bronx’ made a strong case for his title shot but he needs to win against ‘El Cucuy’ that isn’t going to be easy for him.
