Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry and Charles Barkley

After the season opener, one thing is for certain that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are going to be a powerhouse this season for the Brooklyn Nets. After demolishing the Golden State Warriors 125-99, Stephen Curry solo attempt went in vain. The Philadelphia 76ers legend, Charles Barkley suggested this encounter should have been a 3-3 battle. Kevin Durant/Kyrie Irving and Caris LeVert from the Brooklyn Nest vs Stephen Curry/Klay Thompson and Draymond Green for the Warriors. But instead, was a handicap match.

Kyrie Irving went all guns blazing registering 24 points in the first half itself. Whereas Kevin Durant added salt on the burns, with his flurry of points towards the end. Although James Wiseman and Andrew Wiggins registered points against their names. But by that time, the result was obvious. It was already too late for these youngsters to make a difference.

Charles Barkley not impressed with Golden State Warriors

After such a painful loss, it was obvious that the critics would come down heavily on the Warriors. On TNT’s post-game analysis, former All-star Charles Barkley claimed, “We didn’t learn nothing tonight except the Warriors suck without Draymond [Green] and Klay [Thompson].”

In the post-game interview, the legendary coach, Steve Kerr congratulated KD and Ky. He then added, “So the lack of physicality and competition were the most disappointing things.” Both Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr. struggled to make buckets. Also, the entire team fared poorly from behind the three-point line, scoring at just 30.3% against 42.9% from the Nets.

One cannot blame the Warriors and rule them out yet. But they certainly do the need the experience of Draymond Green alongside Stephen Curry to lead these youngsters into a certain direction.
