World No.1 Scottie Scheffler wins The Masters following an incredible journey at Augusta. He secured his crown with 11-under par, hitting 4-under par in the final round. It was his 2nd green jacket victory as he became the 4th youngest golfer to win the event twice including Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Seve Ballesteros.

The 27-year-old pocketed $3.6 million from the event’s $20 million prize purse. Furthermore, this year Augusta National Golf Club announced that the tournament will cover a $20 million payout, $2 million more than last year’s money pool.  Likewise, Scheffler will take home $360,000, a bit more than Jon Rahm’s $3.24 million last year.

The runner-up Ludvig Aberg got a handsome amount too with $2.16 million in his pocket. His Masters journey ended after finishing the final round with four strokes behind the World No.1. It was also his first major championship.

The third place was tied by Tommy Fleetwood, Max Homa, and Collin Morikawa. Each took home $1.04 million. This is also the first time The Masters paid $1 million and more to five players in the top 3 list. The top 11 got a satisfactory amount of $500,000 each. Unfortunately, Tiger Woods finished dead last in the tournament, getting $39,600 from the $20 million purse.

Meredith couldn’t join Scheffler at The Masters as she is heavily pregnant with their first child. The duo is expected to become parents by the end of this month. Choking after the event in his post-game interview, Scheffler stated,

I’m coming home. I’m coming home as soon as I can. I love you and yeah, I’m coming home.

He mentioned what a “very very special time” it was for both of them and “I really can’t put it into words” what it feels like to wear the green jacket twice and expect to be a father soon. He added how hard it was for him to be away from his wife at this crucial moment.

Time and again he commented that he’s ready to withdraw from the tournament if his wife goes into labor. Being a father for the first time is an emotional moment and Scheffler did not want to miss out on this special minute at any cost. He even said that golf is his fourth priority in life, after his wife and his child.
