In less than three months, John Cena will bid farewell to professional wrestling as his year-long retirement tour comes to an end. Debuting in 2002, the 17-time World Champion is widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Such a sendoff is well deserved after decades as the face of WWE.

During the tour, Cena turned heel for the first time since 2003 and even defeated Cody Rhodes for his record-breaking World Title at WrestleMania 41. He has since returned to his babyface persona, delivering classic matches against stars like Randy Orton, CM Punk, Logan Paul, Sami Zayn, and Rhodes.

However, Cena has already acknowledged he won’t have the chance to work with every star who has shaped his career before the tour ends. That is the reason he paid tributes to the likes of Kevin Owens, Kurt Angle, and Edge in his aforementioned bouts to make up for it. With only five dates remaining, the window to face Cena is closing fast.

His next stop is Perth, where he will face AJ Styles at WWE Crown Jewel. After that, Cena has four appearances left, two on premium live events and two on RAW. The Styles match revisits their WWE Championship battles from 2016 and 2017, a matchup fans and the wrestlers themselves had been eager to see for months.

Announced for October 11 by Triple H himself on social media, the announcement hasn’t thrilled everyone. When Cena first revealed his retirement tour, The Miz was one of the first to request a final match. As Cena’s remaining dates dwindle, he expressed his fears to Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely that it may not happen following the Crown Jewel announcement.

I was happy for AJ Styles, but very angry that it’s AJ Styles versus John Cena and not John Cena versus The Miz. I beat the guy at WrestleMania in the main event for the WWE Championship, one of the only people ever to do something like that, and I can’t get a match with John Cena.

The Miz went on to urge fans to rally for him as they did for Styles, emphasizing his long history with the 17-time World Champion and why he deserves one last showdown. For the unversed, Cena and Miz main evented WrestleMania 27, in which the former WWE Champion shockingly came out on top owing to an interference from The Rock

With Cena set to appear on two episodes of Monday Night RAW, Survivor Series in November, and his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, it remains unclear who will face him in his final bout. Rumors have included stars like Dominik Mysterio and Gunther, but no official announcement has been made.

The Miz praises Triple H’s creative genius despite recent disappointments concerning Wrestlepalooza

John Cena’s recent squash match with Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza drew widespread criticism from the WWE Universe. On top of that, ESPN rated the entire PLE event a disappointing C overall. Moreover, they gave Cena’s opening match a C- which is a concerning mark considering WWE and ESPN have signed a $1.6 billion PLE partnership.

And with Wrestlepalooza serving as the debut event on the network, this was meant to take the WWE into a new era. However, that certainly did not happen. The backlash sparked questions about Triple H’s creative direction and overall booking.

However, The Miz isn’t worried and believes ‘The Game’ is doing an excellent job. Speaking with The Schmo, the former Grand Slam Champion praised the WWE CCO’s leadership.

Triple H has been doing a phenomenal job as the head of creative for WWE, and the proof is in the pudding. There’s a reason why every show is sold out. The fact that we are on not just Netflix or the USA, but now we also have a partnership with ESPN, with all our PLEs.

The Miz added that under Triple H’s leadership, the company is thriving and its storylines are exceptional. The former World Champion expressed full support for his plans, noting that ‘The Game’ is one of the best creative minds in the wrestling business.

There’s little debate about The Miz’s praise for Triple H. He was the mastermind behind NXT’s celebrated Black & Gold era, and during a period when WWE’s main roster product struggled between 2018 and 2020, fans were clamoring for ‘The Game’ to take over as head booker.

Triple H has also overseen major milestones, from securing multimillion-dollar deals like WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia to delivering memorable storylines such as Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes two years ago. While not every decision has been flawless, WWE’s creative future appears to be in capable hands under his guidance.
