The former player and once the World No.8, Marcos Baghdatis has resorted to coaching. He is training the World No. 6 Elina Svitolina. Cypriot player Baghdatis retired in 2019 and has played against the likes of the Big 3.

In a recent chat, he has spoken about Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Baghdatis speaks on why they continue to dominate the mens’ tennis after almost over two decades.

”Take for example the big three, Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic. People see them and think what they are doing is normal. But I assure you it’s not, if it was I would have done the same! What they have achieved is out of this world. And the reason they are still out there winning tournaments is because they never stop learning, they always find ways to improve themselves, even after almost two decades at the top,” Baghdatis said.

Baghdatis feels that the reason the Big 3 continues to dominate is that they have kept on learning. While Rafa and Roger have 20 slams each, Novak has 17 slams to his name. The recent performances by young Jannik Sinner have impressed Baghdatis. However, he feels the shoes of Big 3 cannot be filled so easily.

“It will be tough for anyone to emerge after them, even though there are great talents around. One of them is Italian Jannik Sinner,” he said.

The Big 3 are undoubtedly the best in the circuit. While Novak is world no.1, Rafa is number 2 and Roger Federer is away due to an injury as he will be back in 2021.
