To say Liverpool’s title defence has fallen apart will be an understatement. The Reds who found themselves at the top of the table during Christmas period are now mid-table. They’ve lost their last six ties at Anfield.

Liverpool face RB Leipzig on Wednesday night

The defeat against Fulham was a new low for Jurgen Klopp and his men who have now lost six consecutive matches at Anfield. Relegation zone Fulham managed to win 1-0 as Liverpool failed to get on the scoresheet yet again. For a team who have one of the best attacking three in the worldm their record is dismal to say the least.

They have had their problems with a depleted squad but like Jurgen Klopp has said, the problem lies in the fact that they aren’t scoring enough goals. The UEFA Champions League may offer them some respite this season as the Premier League slips out of their hand.

At the moment even top four looks like a distant dream with the surrounding teams all in better form than them. Liverpool will face RB Leipzig at Budapest on Wednesday night and will go in with a 2-0 advantage. It’s a do or die situation for Jurgen Klopp and his men as they go into a crucial match for their season.

We are in this game long enough to know we are not qualified yet,” Klopp said on Tuesday. “Leipzig are good, there is nothing else to say about them. They have a great team and a great manager.”
Leipzig missed out on home advantage the first time. We don’t have it now. Therefore you have this unusual dynamic of a two-leg tie with both matches in the same venue.

“I must say at the outset how grateful we all are to the people in Budapest and at the Puskas Arena for hosting us once again. It might sound like I am saying this because we enjoyed a good result in the first leg, but honestly the organisation, welcome and facilities are second to none.
