Former World No. 1 Lindsay Davenport has stated that she admires the recent progress of American WTA players. Worl No. 2 Coco Gauff leads the group, followed by Jessica Pegula at sixth, and Danielle Collins at ninth.
Madison Keys holds the 14th spot while Emma Navarro reached a career-high of World No. 15 after making it to her first Grand Slam quarterfinals at the recently concluded Wimbledon Championships. This is the first time in two decades that five American players are in the WTA’s Top 15.
The last time USA had five women in the WTA Top 15 was on May 24, 2004, when Davenport was ranked fourth in the world. The 48-year-old showed her excitement about the news in a social media post praising the five players.

Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff gear up for the Paris Olympics
Coco Gauff missed the 2020 Tokyo Olympics because she tested positive for COVID-19 right before her flight to Japan. This year, she will finally make her Olympic debut.

The 20-year-old said that she was feeling honored and excited to represent her country.
One of my biggest dreams is to win a gold medal, and frankly, I think it’s one of the things that it doesn’t matter what event it’s in.

Jessica Pegula and Gauff have won five doubles titles together and reached a Grand Slam final as well. They were once ranked World No. 1 and No. 2 in the doubles. They will be joined by Danielle Collins and Emma Navarro in women’s singles.
Meanwhile, Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Chris Eubanks, and Marcos Giron will participate in men’s singles.
