‘They are the favourites to win’ : Pep Guardiola hails Bayern Munich team to lift the UEFA Champions League once again

Bernardo Silva the Portuguese international headed in the first goal as Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus applied the finishing touches.

Pep Guardiola’s have a strong grip in this round of sixteen tie with a two goal advantage going into the next fixture and will be fancying their chances to progress to the quarter finals. The knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League have always been the nemesis for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City as they have failed in all four of the previous campaigns.
Moreover manager Pep Guardiola says that despite their great run of games in recent time they’re not favourites to win the title. He remains sceptical about their form in crunch match situations and believes that defending champion Bayern Munich are favourites to lift the Champions League once again.
Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on his former side and believes that Manchester City are not close to the quality that Bayern Munich currently have. Moreover it’s the big game mentality of the Bavarian giants that set’s them apart.
“In general, we controlled the game. Unfortunately today we were not clinical enough up front,” he told BT Sport. “That is something we have to improve in this competition. Up front, we have to be more clinical. In this competition, you have to be perfect to make sure you go through.
“When I see Bayern Munich I don’t think we are favourites. My target is West Ham in three days.
“If people say we are favourites, we have to accept it, but a team who, in their whole history, has been to a semi-final once? OK, they say it, we have to accept it.”
