“They don’t want him to leave on his terms,” says Georges St-Pierre on UFC pandering Khabib to stay

UFC all-time legend, Georges St-Pierre recently spoke about the recently retired UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Canadian believes that Dana White and his promotion do not want the top fighters to stop representing their company. St-Pierre supports the Dagestani’s decision and believes it was the right move.
When Georges St-Pierre decided to retire from the sport when he was at the top of his game, Dana had similar comments and reactions to that of Khabib’s. The UFC did not want to let go of a Welterweight legend while he was at the top of his game. But, St-Pierre later came back and fought in the Octagon after 4 years.
Dana White said, “There’s no, ‘Hey listen, I’m going to go on a cruise and I’m going to be gone for two years. I’m going to take a hiatus. I’m going to take a leave of absence. Whatever the hell it was he was saying, that’s not how it works.” This was his livid reaction to St-Pierre’s retirement.
GSP and Khabib are very similar in terms of hanging the gloves while they are still in their prime. The former welterweight champion thinks that UFC never wants to see great fighters leave on their own terms. “For that reason I believe they want to keep Khabib in because they feel like Khabib is undefeated,” St-Pierre explained in an interview with ESPN.
“He left on top, and there’s nothing wrong with that,” says GSP on Khabib

In the interview, GSP continued, “He has probably the most dominant career ever. I don’t even know if he lost a round—He might have lost a round but he dominate all his opponents.” UFC places a lot of value on great fighters and their continuity. When the fighter fails to succumb to those norms they start pestering.
We all saw how far Dana went to convince Khabib for a comeback fight. “They don’t want him to leave on his terms, they want a guy to beat him, then after they gonna be like, ‘Okay, now you can leave.’ But Khabib is smart, I think he’s very smart, he left on top, and there’s nothing wrong with that,” GSP said in the interview.
