Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has said that the team’s strikers need to show him that he need not go into the transfer market in the summer. He wants them to prove their quality before he makes any decisions on getting new recruits.

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland tops Chelsea’s priority list at the moment. However Thomas Tuchel has not made any clear declaration of Chelsea’s interest in him.

Thomas Tuchel gives an ultimatum to his strikers

Although Timo Werner has constantly been chipping in with assists, he has scored Just once in the last 20 premier league appearances. That’s not a record which is up to the mark and they need a target man who can score lots of goals.

Tammy Abraham remains Chelsea’s top scorer with 12 goals this season having played almost half the matches of Werner. But Thomas Tuchel isn’t happy with him it seems as he continues to snub the English international despite Abraham being fit abd available for selection.

Thomas Tuchel has said that the next eight weeks are important for his strikers to show that Chelsea don’t need to enter the transfer market in the summer.

“Is it the best solution to stay with our squad? Is it the best solution to stay in the formation that we have? Can we improve? Can we improve on the training pitch individually and as a group? To create more big chances? These are the questions for June.

“Obviously, every striker wants to score and we, you, always want the No.9 and the No.11 and the wingers and everybody, the No.10s, to score because it’s their main targets and it’s in their characteristic, but, obviously, it’s a bit hard for them.

These are high demands but I have the feeling that they accept them and from there on, we will push them. Everybody wants higher numbers, us, you, but it’s difficult for us to produce, obviously, but we will not stop pushing.”
