“El Cucuy” Tony Ferguson has been making some headlines lately and this time, it is not because of his impeccable fighting style. Ever since Ferguson lost to Justin Gaethje in May, the former’s life has been some sort of a turmoil.

Ferguson lost to Gaethje via TKO in the 5th round, losing the chance to face his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov for the undisputed Lightweight Championship. This was the fifth time Khabib and Ferguson’s fight got cancelled. Still trying to move on from his defeat, Ferguson has picked up several issues that concern him including one regarding Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.

Ferguson targets Poirier: “Some bullsh*t excuse to not want to fight me”

Ferguson and Poirier

Trying to move on from the fight, Ferguson had plans to fight in the co-main event against former interim champion Dustin Poirier. However, the fight got called off due to reasons regarding negotiations between Poirier and the UFC. Ferguson supported his opponent and got himself out of the main event too.

However, Poirier connected with McGregor, planning to fight him in early 2021. Ferguson as he was frustrated with no fight scheduled called out Poirier. He called Poirier a “sell outfor moving onto the fight with McGregor rather than sticking around to face him instead. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, he made the following statements:

“I’m supposed to fight this weekend,” Ferguson said. “Right now, I’ve even got my hoodie on. I’m supposed to be weighing in today or weigh-in this morning. Your body doesn’t know when you lost a fight.”

“So technically we were getting ready for this fight outside of the things from the Dustin Poirier saga I call it. With him taking Conor’s money and his thing for the fight. He doesn’t want to fight me. That’s why I wanted the fight because in the rankings that’s what it is. Conor’s inactive. He’s been inactive for a very long time.”

Making Poirier the reason behind him not having a fight, Ferguson blamed Poirier for being a “sellout.”

“They’re both b*tches,” Ferguson said. “They want to play their f**king grab ass game and go play boxing. We don’t play MMA. This is completely different. Guys don’t want to play this kind of ball league.”

“You want to take Conor’s f**king bribe money to go an open up your academy while you should be saving your money, paying it, donating your time and all this other stuff. Should have had your academy already. You’ve been fighting for years. That’s some bullsh*t excuse to not want to fight.”

Do you think Tony will bounce back to the Octagon soon?
