‘This is a sport of combat and war’ – A charged-up Anthony Joshua speaks out as a possible bout with Tyson Fury largely looms
The Boxing community will certainly witness a cracker of a bout, this year – Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury. The all-Brit encounter will be a heavyweight title unification bout for the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Anthony Joshua currently holds the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles, whereas Tyson Fury, holds the WBC, The Ring magazine and lineal titles.
Speaking in his own YouTube channel, Anthony Joshua can be seen saying that boxing is a sport of combat and war and that he would do anything to win, no matter how much the opponent thinks he could beat him. The video titled Growing Into My Greatness, is shot in a documentary format.
‘I’m there to do a job, and that’s the fighter’s mentality‘
Joshua can be seen saying, “Some people may not understand it and I realize in this life is that, 99 per cent of the population are civilized people. The job I’ve chosen is for the uncivilized. This is a sport of combat and war. We’re not civilized people, we’re warriors, and I love it. No matter what the tactics are, no matter how much you study, no matter how much you think you can beat me, I’m just there to win. I’m there to do a job, and that’s the fighter’s mentality.” (via SkySports)
Anthony Joshua is coming off a win over Kubrat Pulev, as recently as December, 2020. He knocked out the Bulgarian, in the ninth round thereby successfully defending his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles and thereby setting up a potential clash against ‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury. Fury, on the other hand, hasn’t fought since destroying Deontay Wilder, back in February, last year. The undefeated boxer from Manchester will do everything he can, to keep his unbeaten record intact, when he takes on AJ.
