“This is my last run” says Donald Cerrone on his UFC lightweight return

“This is my last run” says Donald Cerrone on his UFC lightweight return
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone

“Donald Cerrone” is one of the most beloved fighters in the UFC history. ‘Anytime, anywhere, anyone’ that line captures what makes Cowboy such a legend and why the fans love to see him fight. Recently, the veteran announced that he will be returning to the UFC’s lightweight division to try and target the 155lbs title one last time.

Cerrone has had a stellar career that spans over a decade! He has fought majorly in the lightweight and welterweight division in the UFC but the last few fights that he has had were in the 170lbs division. Cowboy’s recent welterweight run has not been very good considering he lost 2 fights, one with Conor McGregor at UFC 246 and the other by the hands of Anthony Pettis at UFC 249. His last fight was against “Niko Price”, that ended with a draw.

Despite his recent losses, Cowboy has had such a fantastic career that no one can really doubt him. He is a fighter to the core and loves to put on a show. Just look at his accomplishments!

Donald Cerrone will retire when Donald Cerrone wants to retire

Cerrone is such a fan favourite because he fights because he loves to fight! It is not the fame or money, he is an adrenaline junkie. On his youtube channel, Cowboy said it does not matter what people say. He does not pay any attention to them saying he should retire. Cerrone will stop fighting he wants to; he certainly does not want to right now.

“Everyone talking about I should slow down or I should stop. I want to retire when I want to retire. I don’t care what everyone else will say. Realistically I probably got a couple of years left, and that’s probably four or five fights left in me. Who knows. I’m gonna go back to ’55 and make a run. Let’s go. If I’m gonna do it and make a run, I’m gonna give it my all.

It would suck to remember the last bits of my fight career when I’m old and I’m like, ‘Man, I should have gave it a try. I should have ridden the wave and [not] slacked the last part of my career and regretted it’. Just tighten it up, rock it, do it. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work but at least I tried.”

It seems we are going to have the pleasure to witness a couple of more years of Cowboy fighting before he decides to retire. He believes he has a couple of fights in him left and this lightweight run is going probably going to be his last but he is determined to leave his mark and hopes to retire with gold.
