“This is the big one for me” Roger Federer reveals the Utmost Priority for his comeback-season of 2021

The 20-time Grand Slam champion is heading into the new year with full swing. Roger Federer has his sight set on one of the greatest titles in men’s tennis, that of the Olympic singles gold medal. Further, Federer claimed a gold medal along with Stan Wawrinka in the doubles-category at the Olympics in 2008.
The current World No.5 had to sit the majority of 2020 out due to a double-knee surgery. However, he is not making a tame comeback on the ATP Tour. Rather, Federer will strive to get his stride back at the Australian Open and aim to solidify his form for the Tokyo Olympics 2021.
Federer’s Main Aim
In a conversation for WOW tennis with Kei Nishikori, Roger spoke of his goals in 2021. “Big plan is to be there (Japan) for the Olympics. This is for me the big one,” he declared.
The 39-year-old came close to winning an Olympic gold in 2012, but lost against Andy Murray in the final showdown.
Moreover, Roger stated that he it did fall to his advantage that this tournament saw a postponement. He added, “Maybe selfishly for me it has not been a bad thing that it was actually moved a little. Because of the problems I had last year.”
The Swiss Maestro has also expressed his admiration for Japan and revealed that this is emulated by his family as well. He will be back in action at the Australian Open 2021 after almost a year-long break.
