“This will be the best Matt Brown you have ever seen” – says Matt Brown to all his retirement talks
The 40-year-old American Welterweight fighter, Matt Brown believes he is in the best space possible. Matt has not had the best of records but sure has a lot of fans. The American is coming off a loss from former Interim Champion, Carlos Condit.
Brown and Condit met at the headliner of UFC fight island 7 two weeks ago on January 17. The fight went in favor of Carlos Condit by way of the judge’s decision. This fight questioned the retirement of Matt Brown. It didn’t come off as a shock as Matt himself has considered hanging his gloves.
But the fan-favorite welterweight has confirmed that he won’t be retiring after the unanimous decision loss to Carlos Condit. The 40-year-old said, “I think I can do a lot bigger things than I’ve ever done before”
“I have a lot of fights under my belt”
In a recent interview with Scrap Radio, Matt Brown was seen talking about his career and life. “Every fight could be my last. I’ve been setting up for a long time that when I do retire I’m not broke or setting up from scratch. I am in a position where I could retire, but we will take it one fight at a time,”.
Brown also said, “The way I feel after this camp it is going to be hard to say that I will retire because I feel great. This will be the best Matt Brown you have ever seen. It will be hard to retire but there are a lot more factors these days. I have a lot of fights under my belt but I also have kids. That is the big thing. Being able to spend time with my kids, raise them properly, give them the time and energy they deserve.”
The unanimous decision in the Condit-Brown fight added to some Controversy and Matt Brown finally gave his say to that, “30-27 is ridiculous. I won the first round 100% he won the second for sure and the third is really close but I ended on top. Should have got the decision IMO but if he got it based on just the third round, I wouldn’t be mad. Fucking judges.”
It is clear that retirement is not on Matt Brown’s mind. Will the world see a whole new Matt Brown after his loss to Carlos?
