Thomas Tuchel confirms that four key players will be missing for Atletico Madrid clash

Chelsea will be facing Spanish side Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night. Diego Simeone’s men will make the trip to Stamford Bridge where Thomas Tuchel’s team are yet to even concede.

Thomas Tuchel provides injury update

Thomas Tuchel in his pre match conference confirmed that Tammy Abraham and Thiago Silva will both be rested for the Atletico Madrid clash. The duo has been missing out on numerous Premier League matches and will be once again on the sidelines.

Moreover Chelsea will also be missing the likes of Mason Mount and Jorginho who are both suspended. Mason Mount got a yellow card in his last outing against Atletico and will have to make way for others.

This may prove to be a healthy problem for Thomas Tuchel who will have a narrower squad to choose from. Tuchel emphasised that the team knows what needs to be done and they are fully focused and ready.

We have no fresh injuries but we are are without two key players for us tomorrow in Mount and Jorginho,’ Tuchel explained at his pre-match press conference.
‘Especially with Mason for his offensive skills and his power to break the lines with strong dribbling and his shots.

Atletico are one of the best teams in Europe for not giving shooting chances away, so of course it’s a blow to miss an offensive player for a game such as this one.
‘They are important players for us but we have a strong group and we have to adapt and find solutions to this.
