The search for England’s new manager has come to an end. From the very start, names like Thomas Tuchel and Pep Guardiola have been linked to The Three Lions. After current manager Lee Carsley admitted that he is not considering taking the job permanently, fans went berserk on social media in the FA’s pursuit of a new boss in the post-Gareth Southgate era.
Latest reports state that former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has agreed to take the role of head coach. It is understood that the German will also attend a press conference on Wednesday and will be officially revealed as the new manager. As for Carsley, two more games – one against Greece and the other against Ireland remain.
The manager has signed a deal that will keep him with The Three Lions till July 2026, which is after the World Cup. The country is no stranger to Tuchel, with his pursuits at Chelsea speaking for itself.

Tuchel joins a short list consisting of Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello as the third non-English manager to have ever coached the National team.

Thomas Tuchel is a tried and tested candidate in terms of bringing success to a football club. He did it with Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain in the past and most recent with Chelsea. Even though his stint at Bayern Munich ended by conceding the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, fans are hopeful that the German can bring success to the national team.
Many confidently claimed that England are winning the 2026 World Cup. Citing Tuchel’s impressive run in knockout competitions, a fan said that he is the perfect replacement to former manager Gareth Southgate. Several Chelsea supporters added that they couldn’t control their excitement seeing their former manager take charge of the national team.
England are yet to officially announce Tuchel as their new manager. The team is currently second in Group 2 of League B and has won three out of four games under Lee Carsley. They most recently put three goals past Finland in a 3-1 victory, which saw Trent Alexander-Arnold make headlines for a marvelous free-kick goal.
