Much like the 2024 Summer League, this year’s edition again has seen most of the media focus to focus on Bronny James. Even though Cooper Flagg is set to make his debut sometime down the line, the Los Angeles Lakers’ sophomore has garnered most of the interest.

Fans were waiting to see if LeBron James‘ son made any improvements compared to last season. His G-League performances suggested it was time for the 20-year-old to take the next step, and that excited fans.

In his first game in this edition, James Jr. soared from near the free throw line and threw down a thunderous tomahawk dunk that grabbed headlines. Fans were starting to see the fruits of the work he has been putting in over the past year.

With these improvements, fans want to see him handle himself when he will face No. 1 overall pick, Cooper Flagg, on July 10th. The NBA 2K26 Summer League will showcase the Dallas Mavericks against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Even though the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas can nearly seat 18,000, the demand for tickets is sky-high. As per Tick Pick, lower bowl tickets are currently going for $650. Courtside tickets, on the other hand, are going for $2,500.

Last season, Bronny James’ presence brought in hordes of fans to the Summer League. Usually, these games have very few fans turning up. But the Lakers rookie changed the game, and now, along with Flagg, they are bringing a new level of fame to these games.

Basketball fans shocked by Bronny James vs. Cooper Flagg ticket prices

Basketball fans know that the Summer League might be the best bet to watch Bronny James play as a starter. Once the regular season starts, there is no way he would play more than 10–15 minutes a game.

Therefore, this upcoming game makes it the only real chance for fans to see the Los Angeles Lakers sophomore take on Cooper Flagg. The battle between the two most covered draft picks from the past two years is expected to be epic.

However, fans cannot wrap their heads around the prices that are being charged for this showdown. Such figures were only heard off when Luka Doncic returned to Dallas. To bill these two youngsters at similar levels, that too, in the Summer League, was not on anyone’s bingo card.

Fans believe this is either smart on the NBA’s part to cash in on the hype. Or, it would turn out to be foolish when not enough fans turn up, or either athlete does not play the minutes they expect. Check out examples of such reactions below:

James Jr. has been clocking around 15–20 minutes per game in the 2025 Summer League. If the Mavericks’ No. 1 overall pick plays similar minutes in that game, the fans paying those exorbitant tickets might feel that their money was well spent.

Bronny James had a terrible Game 2 of this Summer League

Bronny James certainly improved his chances of getting more minutes after a decent performance in his first game of this year’s Summer League. Today, against the San Antonio Spurs, many expected him to continue that form.

However, the 20-year-old had a forgettable game after finishing with just two points off 20% shooting from the field, along with 3 turnovers. Two of those turnovers gave his critics additional fodder to troll him.

One was on a fast break where James Jr. had the ball in his hands, and a teammate blocking a Spurs’ player in the paint. He gathered himself to score a layup, only for the ball to slip out of his hands, hit his leg and go out of bounds.

The second was late in the 2nd quarter when he gathered a strip ball and jumped to score an easy one-yard layup. Baffling even by his standards, the ball failed to touch anything, and he tried to gather it again, only to be called for a travel.

The LSU star has to practice harder and bring his focus back. Else, the upcoming battle against Cooper Flagg could turn out to be an embarrassment. The last thing he wants is to look bad again, heading into the regular season.
