The first season of the TGL came to an end on Tuesday night as the Atlanta Drive GC swept the New York Golf Club in the best-of-three series. The team comprising of Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay and Lucas Glover became the inaugural champions of the TGL with this win. League owner Tiger Woods would then sent out out a special message and congratulate them.
The Atlanta Drive GC finished 3rd in the SoFi Cup standings and faced off against The Bay Golf Club in the semi finals. After a 9-3 win against them, they booked their place. On the other hand, the New York GC would beat the table toppers Los Angeles GC to reach the final.
Having lost the first game, the NYGC tried to take the series to the final game. After some close missed putts from both teams, the New York-based outfit found themselves leading 3-0 at one stage.
Things started to turn at the 12th hole when Patrick Cantlay put his team on the board with a point. They entered the 14th hole trailing 3-2 and threw down the hammer. 8-time PGA Tour winner Billy Horschel sank a 17-foot birdie which saw them take a 4-3 lead.

PGA Tour hilariously ranks Billy Horschel as No.1 sportsman in Atlanta-sporting power rankings
On Tuesday night, Billy Horschel electrified the SoFi Center in Florida with a crucial birdie putt on the 14th hole. With the hammer being thrown, this putt resulted in two points for his team, which saw them turn the game around and lead. As this turned out to be the winning point, the PGA Tour hilariously ranked Horschel as the No.1 sportsman in Atlanta’s all-time power rankings.

Some of the top names in sports have represented the city of Atlanta on the biggest stage. Many consider MLB great Hank Aaron as the No.1 player when it comes to the all-time power rankings.
On X, the PGA Tour jokingly ranked Chipper Jones, Michael Vick, Dominique Wilkins, and Hank Aaron from 5th to 2nd in the Atlanta sportsman all-time power rankings. Horschel was ranked ahead of them all, following his incredible putt to win the 14th hole.
