After withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational due to his mother’s passing, Tiger Woods returned to golf action on Tuesday at the TGL. During the match against the New York Golf Club, he made an ’embarrassing’ mistake that left his teammates chuckling on the floor.

Woods along with Tom Kim and Kevin Kisner took part in his team’s third match of the season. After a brutal 12-1 loss against the Los Angeles Golf Club, Woods and his teammates bounced back in the second game against the Boston Common Club.

Once again, the Jupiter Links Golf Club had a rough start. They would find themselves 8-0 down at one stage of the match.

At the 13th hole, Woods would turn to his caddie and ask for the yardage. The 15-time major champion went on to have a clean hit down the middle. The problem here was that he was supposed to hit 199 yards instead of 99.

On golf courses, caddies often drop the first number while informing about the yardage as the golfer already knows how far they are from the pin. In this scenario, there seemed to have been some misjudgment from Woods as he thought he was only 99 yards away and used a wedge club to hit his shot.

Woods would realize the mistake after the shot had landed. Unfortunately for him, this cost him the hole against Cameron Young.

After his slip-up, Woods labeled this as one of the “most embarrassing” moments of his golfing career.

One of the most embarrassing moment in my golfing career just happened. I just screwed up. That was embarrassing.

Tiger Woods said on ESPN Telecast

Woods’ team went on to lose the game 10-3 later on. After 3 games, they are 5th in the SoFi Cup standings, 1 spot behind the play-off cut line with 2 points.

Tiger Woods comments on ‘hard process’ of life following death of his mother Kultida Woods

Two weeks ago, Tiger Woods suffered a major personal loss as his mother Kultida Woods passed away. Following her passing, Woods withdrew from the Genesis Invitational while claiming that he was still processing her loss. On Tuesday, he once again commented on this and claimed it was a ‘hard process’ to move on.

Kultida Woods was present at Woods’ last TGL game against the Boston Common Club. During the match, the golfer would hilariously wave back at her and claimed that he was not gonna suck tonight.

After the game against the New York GC, the 49-year-old informed he had not hit a golf ball since playing with President Donald Trump just before Super Bowl LIX.

I had a hard time driving down here. I hadn’t hit a golf ball since I played with the President and just put everything away and shut it off. I had a really hard time getting here and then reliving all the moments that we’ve had, my mom, how excited she was to have Charlie drive her here. So those are some great moments and great memories. It’s been a hard process.

Tiger Woods told the reporters at the press conference

Woods has though confirmed that he has plans to play in some bigger events this year. Given that the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship will be held in back-to-back weeks in March next month, there are chances that he could appear in one of these before getting ready for the 2025 Masters Tournament.
