Tiger Woods has had a long an illustrious career for the past couple of decades. However, his 15 Major title wins did not come without its own set of challenges and setbacks throughout the year. Woods is tied in first place for the most number of men’s Major Championships win ever. Woods first turned pro at the age of 20 in 1996. By 1997 Woods was already on his way to glory, winning 3 PGA Tour events, including one major championship.

In less than a year after turning pro, Woods already held the world no. 1 spot in the golfing world. However, it did not come easy for Woods, for he had to face his own problems for quite a long time. From multiple back surgeries, stress fractures and ACL Tears, Woods has seen it all and even managed to conquer it- not letting it stop him from becoming one of the greatest golfers of all-time. Here is what Tiger Woods went through during his career- his injuries, procedures and comebacks.

Tiger Woods’ knee troubles did not stop him from peaking during his career

April of 2008 was the first time Woods started facing trouble with his knee. Woods was forced to take 2 months off to undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair the cartilage in his left knee. The injury had been causing him much trouble over the last year, and he needed to get it fixed. However, even with much pain in his knee and a Tibia with stress fractures, Woods persevered for the US Open and took a thriller victory.

Victory at Torrey Pines was the last time for nine month that Woods could actually star a tournament, since he underwent ACL reconstructive and cartilage damage repair surgeries. However the next problem to come was with a neck injury that he had been suffering from neck pain for quite a while from neck pain. While it was though to be a bulging disk, it was later discovered that Woods had an inflamed facet joint in 2010. This however, did not last long and Woods was back in action soon.

His knee injury seemed to flare up once again 2011 with a minor knock, but it saw him withdraw from the Wells Fargo Competition. Later however it was discovered that he had a sprained MCL in his left knee and strained left Achilles tendon saw Woods miss the next three months.

Tiger Woods’ back injury woes restricted his seasons

In 2013, Woods suffered from a serious of elbow strains at the Players Championships that ruled him out of the AT&T Nationals. In August 2013 he suffered from a series of back spasms as well which left him hunched on all fours during his final round. In 2014, his injury became more serious as he ended up getting more serious. In April 2014 he announced that he would be getting back surgery for a pinched nerve that had troubled him for “several months”.

In August 2014 Woods grunted his way through the PGA Championship, which did not help him in the future- keeping him out till December. Back injuries plagued Woods in 2015, 2016 and 2017, undergoing over 4 serious back operations. “When healed, I look forward to getting back to a normal life, playing with my kids, competing in professional golf and living without the pain I have been battling so long,” he said according to Sky Sports.

Woods got backed to swinging in September 2017 and through gradual recovery he came back to win the Masters in 2019- his 15th Major title. However a recent injury in 2020 because of a horrific car crash meant that his leg is continually in pain. In 2022 Woods continues to struggle with his injuries.
