Tiger Woods mourns the death of his mother Kutilda Woods at the age of 78. Woods penned a heartfelt note on social media announcing his mother passed away. Details on how, when, and where have not been revealed yet.
Woods noted that “She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter,” and without her none of his achievements would have come true. For Tiger Woods, his mother was a very strict person but also the pillar of his achievements.
His father Earl Woods passed away in 2006 at the age of 74 after losing his battle with cancer. Following his death, Kutilda was often captured cheering for her son during events.
Even recently, Kutilda Woods was seen in attendance for his TGL debut a couple of weeks ago. Throughout his career, Woods’s achievements earned him the title GOAT and he credited it all to his parents.
He spoke about how both his parents supported him throughout his journey in the golf world since the age of 6. Despite financial issues, his parents made sure Woods had the facilities to advance in golf and be where he is today.
Tiger Woods on his mother Kutilda’s role in his career
Tiger Woods recalled how his mother, Kutilda Woods, was always on every step of his journey, even when he was entangled in scandal after his divorce from wife Elin Nordegren. He said his mother was hurt in the process as he strayed away from the teachings of Buddha.
However, Kutilda embraced his son following his heartbreaking speech after his divorce, saying, “As a human being, everyone has faults, makes missteps and learns from it.” He further added that he was deeply loved by his grandchildren, son Charlie and daughter Sam.

Tiger Woods further recalled how his mother used to beat him in a 2006 article by The San Diego Union-Tribune. He said he still has the handprints of his mom as she used to “beat the hell out of” him.
Despite the toughness, Kutilda prayed to Buddha “that in the next life Tiger” will be his son again. During the 2022 World Golf Hall of Fame speech, Woods choked up saying “without the sacrifices of mom” nothing he has done and achieved would have been possible.
