Tiger Woods seems unlikely to participate in The Players Championship next week after withdrawing from the Arnold Palmer earlier this week. He has not played in any major tournaments since the death of his mother, Kultida Woods, last month.

Following the conclusion of the TGL season, Woods mentioned that he is unsure of the future, promoting a possible miss on The Masters too. While the event is far away, Woods’ recent comment on his practice and work did not make a positive mark on competitive golf.

He also withdrew from the Genesis Invitational after noting an emotional message following his mother’s death. He said his mother, Kultida, was the pillar for him, and he would like to take time to cope with his loss.

He played golf with Donald Trump earlier but has not competed in any PGA Tour events so far. It seems his appearance to The Masters might also take a hit as he noted his “heart is really not into practicing.”

This is the third time I’ve touched a club since my mom passed, so I haven’t really gotten into it. My heart is really not into practicing right now. I’ve had so many other things to do with the Tour and trying to do other things. Once I start probably feeling a little bit better and start getting into it, I’ll start looking at the schedule.

Tiger Woods has been participating in the TGL events, which is a relatively less pressure game considering traditional golf. In addition to the loss of his mother, Woods said that he has been busy with PGA Tour board meetings regarding the merger deal.

While the deal doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon, Woods is confident that the unification will take place sometime soon in the future. President Donald Trump has also been very active in this pursuit and has had meetings with both parties at the White House.

Brad Faxon hopes to see Tiger Woods at The Players Championship

Despite the unlikeliness of Tiger Woods participating in The Players Championship, golfer Brad Faxon is hopeful for a positive future. He says a caddie told him that Woods has been walking without a limp and seems ready to play in tournaments.

Although, whether Woods does participate still remains to be seen. He recently wrapped up his TGL season with Jupiter Links, losing 9-1 against Atlanta Drive GC. Woods played in the event alongside Tom Kim, Max Homa, and Kevin Kisner.

Tiger drove it out there with Keegan on every shot. He walked all 18 holes there was not even a limp. He’s certainly in condition to play….Hopefully for us at NBC and all fans he plays the PLAYERS championship.

It’s the first year of TGL, and while the ratings might not have been satisfactory, Woods is pleased to play in the events and have fun alongside fellow golfers. Woods made his last PGA Tour appearance in the 2024 Open Championship.
