WATCH – Tillakaratne Dilshan rolls back the years with a stunning catch in the Road Safety World Series
Tillakaratne Dilshan
Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan in his prime was a true all-rounder in every sense of the word. He was an explosive opening batsman and also a more than handy off-spinner. Further, his fielding was top notch as well. While he has retired now and is 44 years of age, Dilshan showed that he still has the ability to do it all by coming up with a superb all-round display in all three aspects of the game yesterday.
In the Road Safety World Series against Bangladesh Legends, Dilshan who was captaining the Sri Lankan Legends side opened the batting and scored a brisk 33 to lay the platform for a big score as Upul Tharanga scored 99* to take them to 180. In the chase, Dilshan picked up 3 wickets while conceding just 21 runs to stifle the Bangladeshis as Sri Lanka notched up a 42-run win to go top of the table.
Tillakaratne Dilshan produces a catch for the ages
In the 19th over of Bangladesh’s second innings with victory all but sealed already, Rajin Saleh was going for some big shots to salvage pride. His stay was cut short when he hit a Dhammika Prasad delivery high over point. However, Dilshan who was fielding there, jumped full stretch to grab the ball out of thin air and stun the batsman, his teammates, the entire crowd and all those watching at home as well.
It was a moment of true brilliance and commitment from the captain as he showed that age was no bar to produce moments of magic on the cricket field.
