Things are not going well for Tim Anderson. On Wednesday, the 2-time MLB All-Star was Designated for Assignment by the Los Angeles Angels. Him getting designated for assignment ignited some wild reactions from MLB fans.

Anderson has struggled at the plate in the last few years. Since 2023, the 2-time batting champion has managed to hit just one home run. His poor performances has lead to less playing time in the major leagues.

In the offseason this year, he was offered a one-year minor league deal by the Angels and got an invitation to the Spring Training camp. He would eventually get the chance to be part of the major league team.

After signing the deal with the Angels, Anderson expressed that he had lost the feel as he recovered from injuries. A move to the Anaheim seemed to be perfect for him as he tried to find his form back.

Unfortunately for him, things did not work out at the Angels. The 31-year-old struggled with his hitting again and managed to play just 31 games.

In the 90 plate appearances he made, he had a slash line of .205/.258/.241 with no home runs and just 2 extra-base hits. After another disappointing showing from him, the Angels decided to designate him for assignment.

This is the latest hit that has taken place in the career of Anderson. A few years back, he was considered one of the best hitters in the game. From 2019 to 2022, Anderson had a slash line of .318/.347/.473 and managed to hit 51 home runs.

During the 2023 season, he managed to make just 79 appearances for the Chicago White Sox. In that season, he hit 6 home runs and had 25 RBI. Since then, his career has gone down the hill.

Against the Yankees, the team dropped the first two games by scores of 5-1 and 3-2. On Wednesday evening, the team got shut out by the Yankees. The did pitch well and limited the Bronx Bombers to just one run, but were unable to score any runs themselves.

Their next outing will see them take on the Cleveland Guardians, who themselves avoided getting swept. A 5-run eight inning saw the Guardians mount a comeback victory over the Dodgers.
