The New York Yankees may reunite with their pitcher Tim Hill, who is currently in free agency. There’s been talks that both of them are interested in another season run after seeing success in 2024.

Following a trade from the Chicago White Sox, Tim Hill has proved to be an asset for the pinstripes. He has improved his pitches under the guidance of pitching coaches Matt Blake and Desi Druschel.

While Druschel joined the Mets across town, the Yankees are hoping to see further consistency with Tim Hill under the other coaches. The team is comfortable with extension talks considering a reasonable price for his services.

With the Yankees, his ERA dropped to 2.05 while his FIP recorded 3.62. However, in the postseason, Hill came through and delivered his deal’s worth. Unfortunately, Game 1 of the World Series brought many questions to Hill’s performance.

In Game 1, 10th inning, manager Aaron Boone called for Nestor Cortes, who had not played in official matches for a long time, rather than call Hill to pitch. His choice made many questions about whether the team did not trust him during crucial moments or if was it his past inconsistency that made it so.

Regardless, both parties are interested in playing together once more as they aim to challenge the World Series title in 2025. With the focus currently being on Juan Soto, Hill seemed fine with waiting.

Social media calls for Tim Hill to be back in Yankees lineup

Despite World Series failure, and not getting his time to shine, Tim Hill is more than happy to reunite with the New York Yankees. With the team, he has seen personal development and is willing to work with them more to increase the chances.

However, the focus currently is on re-signing Juan Soto. Soto’s asking price in the market is set to increase by more than $600 million in the upcoming days. It seems like, the team will make several player changes and add-up decisions after sorting out Soto’s deal.

On the other hand, fans are excited to welcome back Tim Hill in the Bronx. One X user noted, “No brainer. Bring Tim back,” while another added, “Great to see him back.” Check out more fan reactions below:

The 2024 free agency seems to be circling around Juan Soto until the outfielder makes a decision. The Yankees have also looked into Pete Alonso and may see him as a backup for Soto. However, no critical decision is expected to be made until Soto decides on his future path.
