Jasprit Bumrah has been absolutely sensational in international cricket right from the time he made his debut. Currently, he is regarded as the best all-format player in the world and one of the all-time greats. The fast bowler single-handedly carried India on his back in the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. He has all the tricks in his arsenal in all formats and is constant trouble for even world-class batters.

In a recent interaction with Hindustan Times, former New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee said that Bumrah has been sensational with the ball since the time he made his comeback from a serious injury. The Kiwi legend called Bumrah a special talent with his unique action and all the skills on display.

He’s been tremendous to have an injury setback like he did. And to be able to bounce back and arguably be a better bowler now than what he was pre-injury. So, he’s always been a special talent. He’s obviously got a unique action, pace, and skill.

Tim Southee said to Hindustan Times.

Southee further heaped praise on Bumrah’s ability to swing and seam the ball in both directions with his extra pace. The former New Zealand fast bowler talked highly about Bumrah’s ability to be at his best and maintain consistency across all formats of the game for a prolonged period.

Jasprit Bumrah doubtful for group stage of the ICC Champions Trophy due to back spasm

Bumrah suffered an injury during the fifth Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground and had to go for scans. He was not able to bowl in the second innings of the Test match, which probably cost his team the Test match and the series.

Now, reports have emerged stating that Bumrah will be going to the NCA for rehabilitation and will look to recover from the back swelling. It seems like the pacer will be out of the group stage of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, and that will be a huge setback for the Men in Blue.

Bumrah was the player of the tournament in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and played the most important part in India winning an ICC tournament after 13 long years. So, the BCCI medical team will be doing all that they can to get him fit for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai.
