Timothee Chalamet memorably misses Met Gala 2025 for Celtics vs Knicks
Acclaimed actor Timothee Chalamet has put his NBA fandom ahead of the chance to make a splash at Met Gala 2025.

Timothee Chalamet
Timothee Chalamet might be the world’s most popular Knicks fan at this moment in time. The New Yorker proved his allegiance to his team in perhaps the most rewarding of fashions on the night of the Met Gala.
The New York Knicks were slated to take on the reigning champion Boston Celtics at TD Garden at 7 PM on Monday. The Met Gala 2025 broadcast, meanwhile, would start off at 5:30 PM. The Knicks would go on to cede a 20-point lead midway through the third quarter. At this point, perhaps, Chalamet might have had a fleeting regret for missing the year’s most glamorous night.
However, the Knicks succeeded in staging a rousing comeback, eating the deficit up within a few minutes. The fourth quarter stayed a one-possession battle between the Eastern Conference powerhouses. With scores tied at the fourth-quarter buzzer, the Knicks held their nerve in overtime to take a 1-0 series lead.
This amazing series-opener was followed up by yet another clutch Western Conference semifinal at least equally exciting. The OKC Thunder lost game 1 at Paycom Center to Denver off an Aaron Gordon game-winner with 2.8 seconds left. Nikola Jokic had a monster 42-point, 22-rebound outing and was ably contested by likely MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. SGA tallied 33 points of his own and had several clutch buckets.
With so much exciting basketball action to binge on, Chalamet has been extremely vindicated by his decision to skip the Met Gala. Even though this would have presented him a chance to rub shoulders with the hotties, including his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, on the hottie cam.

The Oscar-winning actor posted Instagram stories of himself watching playoff basketball with his mates on an iPad. His Knicks managed to make himself look a lot better than their opponents. They outshot the Celtics from the field (37-87 compared to 34-97) and from the 3-point line (17-of-37 compared to 15-of-60). While Jalen Brunson was inefficient (9-23), OG Anunoby outdueled Jayson Tatum, scoring 29 points and locking up his opponents on the other end.
All in all, this would be a very satisfying watch for the Knicks fans. They have been thoroughly outplayed by the Celtics during their regular season contests over the past two seasons. Many projected this series to be an easy one for Boston to win and advance to the Conference Finals. However, game 1 has shown that the series clearly is too close to call confidently based on the recent past.
Timothee Chalamet shouted out Michael Jordan at an awards show
Chalamet turned heads with his role as Bob Dylan in his 2024 biopic A Complete Unknown. His performance would help him land his second Oscar Award for Best Actor this year. Before that honor, Chalamet also won a Screen Actors Guild award for Best Actor for the same portrayal.
The charming Frenchman poured his heart out during his acceptance speech. He confessed the hardships he went through in this role, which allegedly took over 5.5 years before release. He also stated his burning desire to be recognized as the absolute standard-bearer for his profession, citing the legendary Michael Jordan as an influence.
I’m inspired by the greats here tonight. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there.

Chalamet has also previously received signed basketball jerseys from Knicks stars, such as Karl-Anthony Towns. He’s a regular at NBA games and can often be seen courtside at Madison Square Garden on the Celebrity Row. One can expect him to make an appearance in games 3 and/or 4.
