Titans look to emulate Chiefs as they nab Brett Veach’s deputy as GM

The Tennessee Titans made a major change to their hierarchy when they fired GM Ron Carthon a while ago. With the league running away from them, it seems they have decided to follow the methods of the best team in the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Chiefs GM Brett Veach has been instrumental in building Super Bowl winning teams. Naturally Patrick Mahomes makes it all simple. However, without the philosophy in place, all that success would not have happened.
Up until a few years ago, it was the Patriots way that saw personnel experienced in that system get jobs across the league. But now, as the Chiefs have become the benchmark, the Tennessee Titans preferred to emulate that. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was notified of a development which he revealed on his X account.
Mike Borgonzi has been with the Chiefs for the past 16 seasons. In that time, he has worked with three different GMs that give him considerable experience. He earned promotions when working for each of them, suggesting he was highly revered for his work.
Deal reached: Titans and former Chiefs assistant GM Mike Borgonzi now officially have reached agreement on a five-year contract, tying him to Tennessee through the 2029 season, per sources.

The Tennessee Titans nabbing him before other teams, such as the New York Jets, could suggest he was offered a free leash. With the dysfunction surrounding the Jets, he might have preferred to build something quiet than having to answer to teenagers.
Mike Borgonzi has a monumental decision ahead of draft
The Tennessee Titans benefitted from the likes of the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders, who won games towards the end. They now hold the No. 1 overall pick and have the power to affect not only their own, but those of other teams. On this note, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport said.
Rapoport’s question does hold water. On one hand, the Tennessee Titans hold the most important draft pick. That also means they will pick top picks in the other rounds except the third. They don’t hold that pick in the 2025 NFL Draft as they sent it to Borgonzi’s former employers to bring star corner L’Jarius Sneed.

With Will Levis‘ struggles last season, it is unknown which direction they would go. However, not many are high on either of the quarterbacks coming up in this NFL Draft. Therefore, Mike Borgonzi will have a scratch on his head trying to make the best decision for his new team.
