After a long wait, the former Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams finally landed a contract with the Tennessee Titans as his new home. Given, that the signing is done right ahead of the training camp, the team ought to give the safety a fair chance to compete for the starting safety position.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Adams has signed a one-year deal with the Titans, which also reflects an opportunity for the safety to prove himself after most of his NFL career has been plagued with injuries. The terms of the deal are yet to be decided and so is its monetary value.
After being released on March 5, Adams was offered the contract by Titans general manager Ran Carthon, who interestingly played alongside the safety’s father in the NFL in the 80s.
As much as this new opportunity is good for the defensive player, fans believe the Titans made a big mistake by signing him. They didn’t hold back from calling out the team as “Titans got worse with this signing” and called Adams a “washed-up” player.
Fans predicted that the safety would again get injured and mocked the team for signing players like they were Super Bowl contenders.

At present, the listed starting safeties at Tennessee are Amani Hooker and Elijah Molden for the upcoming 2024 season. Adams will be competing for one of these two positions in the training camp, starting July 23.
Adams’ NFL career started at a good pace as he became an All-Pro in 2019 after being drafted by the New York Jets in 2017 as the sixth overall pick. He was later traded to the Seahawks in 2020 in exchange for two first-round picks in a four-year deal worth $70 million. But he appeared only in 10 games combined in two seasons and failed to make any impact.
In his four years at Seattle, the safety suffered several injuries to his fingers and shoulder however the major one was in the 2022 season opener when he tore his quadriceps tendon. Despite taking a year-long recovery, Adams couldn’t gain back his old form leaving the team no choice but to release him this offseason.
