“Title defence at UFC 270 is the most important fight of Francis Ngannou’s career,” and here’s why

Francis Ngannou
UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou wants to keep it real after he fights his first title defence at UFC 270 which can possibly be his last fight inside a UFC Octagon if things go wrong backstage. Ngannou won the UFC Heavyweight Championship back in March of 2021 at UFC 260 when he knocked out Stipe Miocic in a rematch before which Miocic won the first fight back in 2018.
Ever since then, Ngannou and the UFC are going back and forth for the former’s future deal and none are going to compromise their conditions even after coming into the fight week of UFC 270. Ngannou is going to defend his title against former teammate and interim-UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane. Gane is the most well-known protege of Ngannou’s former coach Fernand Lopez with whom Ngannou has a different beef altogether.
Francis Ngannou is on the line of losing his entire livelihood, here’s how

In a video by MMA on Point where someone with the stage name of Tommy Toe Hold narrates the history of the kind of deal Francis Ngannou has with UFC and the history between Ngannou and UFC in itself, we get to know as to why Ngannou’s title defence at UFC 270 is the most important fight of his career and the stakes at risk are higher than his belt.
For a UFC megastar like Conor McGregor, he can step out of the UFC to do anything he wants to do and nail it with millions of dollars into his purse, that’s not the case for Ngannou unfortunately. As the referred video says everything about this fight is “unprecedented” if viewed from Ngannou’s point of view, from winning the fight to him and his team campaigning against the biggest MMA promotion in the world today.
One thing Ngannou can take credit for doing against the UFC is that he didn’t fall for the negotiation tactics that make a fighter feel compelled to take the next fight. He already boiled down all the arguments to counter UFC’s side as to a few financial issues but more of an exposure block by the MMA promotion.
Francis Ngannou has expressed his desires in the past to compete as a professional boxer and one day become a boxing champion. Ngannou is certain that if the UFC helps him in pursuing it, the events of boxing featuring him would escalate much bigger in magnitude. Even current boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has expressed a desire for a superfight between him and Ngannou.

The UFC 270 fight is so much more than a title, Francis Ngannou’s entire livelihood is on the line because if he wouldn’t be able to make another successful deal with the UFC, a fight with Fury won’t be feasible either because it is feasible right now, further, because of Ngannou’s championship status at the UFC. The magnitude won’t be there anymore and Ngannou will have to start again from scratch to work his way into any other MMA promotion he will get signed to for making what he is making right now.
What do you make of the entire situation of the UFC versus Francis Ngannou, who do you think is right? Who do you think wins the fight between Ngannou and Ciryl Gane at UFC 270?
It is a perfect matchup for its perfect competition between power vs precision. Gane has got to be staying defensive in the early rounds for that’s where Ngannou will be throwing powerbombs to knock Gane out cold. With that said, in the later rounds, Gane can wear and tear Ngannou by making him use his muscle so much that there’s no gas/cardio left in the latter rounds.
