Novak Djokovic produced his best tennis on Friday as he defeated the German, Alexander Zverev in straight sets at the Nitto ATP Finals 2020. In a must win encounter for both players, the winner of the match would proceed to face Thiem in the semifinals, and the loser will be heading out of the tournament. It was the Serbian, who again delivered when it mattered and will face Dominic Thiem on Saturday, in a replay of the Australian Open final earlier this year.
Novak Djokovic was happy to be back in the semifinals in London, and had a message for all tennis fans after his victory over Zverev. He said, Hey Guys (fans), I miss you all and I hope it is temporary that we play without fans. O2 Arena has always been such a dynamic and vibrant place for us to play, it is great to be back in the semifinals.”

Novak Djokovic, World number 1 lifted the year-end world number one trophy earlier this week. While lifting the trophy, he stated that he had mixed emotions. He was happy but torn at the same time, given the world has been through such unprecedented times during the coronavirus pandemic. In his message for the fans, he thanked them for their love and support and hoped to see them in the stands soon.
“Thank you fans your support and love, on social media, I have been following and it has been feeding me with good energy, and I hope I can finish the tournament in the best way possible,” concluded Novak Djokovic. The Serbian star will go for his 6th ATP Finals title, as he faces the Austrian, Dominic Thiem in a mouthwatering semifinal. If he wins the last 4 battle, there is a prospect of him facing Rafael Nadal to lift the title at the O2 Arena.
